The charming village of Prekal is situated to the north of Shkodra on the banks of the Kiri River. It’s long been a secret swimming hole for the local Shkodrans when their beaches are overflowing with tourists.
We’ll spend the day enjoying a picnic, soaking up the sun, and swimming in Kiri’s chilly crystal blue water.
On the way we’ll take a short detour to two famous bridges in the area. The first is Ura e Mesit (“the bridge in the middle”) outside Shkodra built in the 18th century during the Turkish occupation.
The second Urë e Shtrenjtë (“the expensive bridge”) is a modern bridge built with help from OxFam to connect a small Albanian community with the rest of the world.
