UNESCO Protected Heritage Site, The City of Stone, birth city of our most famous writer Ismail Kadare, and our most famous dictator, Enver Hoxha, Gjirokastra is our destination. First stop at the old bazaar, with the characteristic houses, the artisan shops and cafe-bars, for a coffee before taking the cobbled streets to the castle. Visit at the antinuclear refugee bunker, built by the communist regime in case of attack from Anglo-American or even Russian aggressors. Then we visit the castle, the weapons museum inside it, the clock tower and we will enjoy the amazing scenery of Drino valley. The tour will continue to the ethnographic museum, a characteristic house that happens to be the very house where Enver Hoxha was born. Now it has been turned into a museum because it was very well preserved during communism era and it has all the elements of a traditional Gjirokastra house.
