Arrival at the airport. After a check into the hotel and depending on the time of arrival, the tour is on with the first visit to a wine farm just outside of Tirana. The best products of this winery are made from renowned cultivars such as Kallmet etc. and that is not all, we are going to visit and spent time visiting the vineyards. Overnight in Tirana.
The day starts right away into the hilly areas surrounding Tirana to another winery. The farm is as famous for its wine as the history of its brand name. After our lounging there, the next farm is just a few kilometers away, where lunch is awaiting under the shadows of oaks and the cool breeze that an aquaculture reservoir helps bringing about. We are on our way to a place full of history and amazing literary.
After breakfast and our travel preparations, it will be impossible not to check out the next-door pottery shop where 2 thousand years of craftsmanship is still being marketed. In our tour is a visit much upper north to a national wine processor, handling what may quite possibly the best cultivar. Lunch will be enjoyed in this area and then we will be heading to Dibra. There awaits us a milk and apple farm, a fresh juice processor and an aquaculture farm. The scenery offers a great deal of mountains and landscapes, and you might also like to visits the hot baths, or the mediaeval city ruins. Overnight in Dibra.
We’ll start drive through a beautiful valley where a dairy farm of small ruminant’s milk products awaits to be explored. A little further on and we are into another winery for a short stop. After that we’ll drive all the way to Pogradec and Korca; the most important regions in the southeast. Here your stamina we’ll be challenged as there will be plenty of nature, lakes, churches, and of course an entire empire of apple farms. Accommodation is organized in what used to be a mediaeval oasis of Byzantine Christianity and education, Voskopoja.
After breakfast we’ll be heading further south towards Erseka and Leskovik. In this area we will enjoy and try out the delicacies of an organic farm. Meals cooked after the traditional style of this area. The tour in on as in front of us lies the city of Permet, well known for its flowers, landscape, hot baths and wine. We can take a break to relaxed by these thermal waters where a swim can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Here we are going to have a try at the traditional “Gliko”, one of the best handmade marmalades of Albania, replete with different fruits. Overnight in Permet.
Today we are going further into the valleys towards the city of Tepelena. We’ll check out the “Cold Water” spring of Tepelena, one of the most famous tourist attractions of Albania. Honey, medicinal herbs, mountain tea, organic dairy products, all to the delight of the traveler. From there we’ll detour up into the hills to check out another winery where the view is nothing short of amazing. After lunch we are going through the hills to the city of Berat. Overnight in Berat.
Today we’ll start from the only castle in Balkans still inhabited as it was during the middle ages. Museums, handicrafts, churches, and of course a winery shall all distract you into absorbing all that you can. One thing you wouldn’t want to forget is your camera. From there, in keeping in touch with the feeling we’ll visit the only monastery with monks in Albania, and their historical church. Lunch is reserved in the restaurant nearby. We turn back to Tirana.
